posted by BriteBlsn on Mar 30, 2005 - 01:49 PM

Gatherings To new frinds and to old friends and to the Flower Fairies (Kaylin)I want to say thank you. I came to Festival late, heartsore and weary and you made me laugh again. I am humbled by the love and peace that you gave me and by the joy that you all reminded me of.

I thank you all with all my heart. I have come home again.

March 23rd - 27th, 2005
Held at Hidden River Resort
Just North of Jacksonville, FL near Maclenny, FL.
Hidden River Resort is an 88 acre facility located 16 miles north of Maclenny in northeast Florida. (it's 39 miles from the I-95/I-10 intersection in downtown Jacksonville.) The Site features Hot Showers (4 indoor and 2 outdoor) with a small hot tub attached, swimming pool, a 30 x 60 stage, a 20 x 40 pavillion, decks, and 15 full (with septic) RV hookups, and 11 power/water hookups. The Property is neat, clean, and the facilities are solidly constructed (We will not ever overload the power on this site, I suspect) and we will have plenty of room to grow. PhoenixPhyre 2004 was our first festival held on the new property, and it met our needs very well. We can look forward to a wonderful festival on an incredible property.

Gathering Archives: More Workshops
posted by Dianne on Mar 16, 2005 - 09:51 AM

Gatherings The workshops are all in and are very exciting!

Can we talk about the Change of Life? Presented by Ardeith of Dragonwood
Can we mention "menopause" in mixed company?
I think we should because some 38 million women will be making that Change in the next few years.
Let's talk about what you can expect during this time, and how you can cope with it.
Why should men be interested in this? Because you either live with women, work with women, or are the sons and brothers of women; and because those women are going to go through changes that will have an impact on your lives. Whether you like it or not. Let's talk about how women (and men) can survive the Change of Life, and keep your marriages and relationships intact.
Priestess of Dragonwood Circle, companion of Fred Wood, mother of four human beings, grandmother of six people we hope will become good examples of human beings, and a post-menopausal Crone. Been there . . . done that . . . and survived. Fred survived, too.

Broom Closet Blues Presented by Scarlett Ross
How big is your closet? How small is your pentacle? Do these things really matter? This discussion will examine the pros, cons and confounding issues of being openly Pagan in a non-secular world. Coming out (or not) of the Pagan religious closet is a difficult, slippery, and very personal decision. I will work with groups on their fears, joys and experiences related to the reality of living a private spirituality in the public world of work and family. Once the decision has been made to remain in the closet or step outside (or something in-between), we will examine the practicalities of this decision in day-to-day living.

A Primer in Prophecy and Prediction - a hands-on production Presented by Scarlett Ross
An introduction to some of the oldest and weirdest known forms of divining the future including famous faces like Nostradamus. We'll explore the reasons behind Nostradamus's need to prophecy, reasons why you should (and should not) peek into the future. This workshop will also include instructions and materials to create your own personal runes. Future not included.

Gathering Archives: Fires, Campfires, Torches and Candles
posted by Wade on Mar 12, 2005 - 11:06 AM

Gatherings I need to remind everyone that about the fire / Campfire situation at
the festival.

There are three open fires at the Festival only; The Main ritual Fire
(Actually two fires, the center fire an auxilarry fire for the
drummers), The Fire in the center of the Community Area in the center
of The Merchants Circle, and a Third community fire that will mst
likely be in one corner of the Parking lot accross from the bathrooms
(about half way between ritual circle and the pavillion).

There will not be any fires approved anywhere else on the site.
Cooking fires (and stoves) are allowed, but in raised containers, and
must be Physically manned at all times, and extenguished immediately
following your meal.

Along a similar vein: Open flames (Candles, tiki's, or similar) are
fine, but you must extinguish them if you leave the area (even if only
briefly) This includes Altars. We are planing a community Altar that
can have lit candles, it'll be located either at the ritual circle, or
at the Pavillion, so it'll have someone watching it at all times.

The site is dry; N.E.Florida is down three inches of rain for the year
so far, and although we do have a front coming through in the next day
or two, there will not be enough to significantly reduce the wildfire
threat.

Gatherings Workshops for PhoenixPhyre 2005, so far. More to come!!

Salt Silk Sarong Dyeing - Presented by Rowan
Bring your creative juices. We provide silk, dye and salt and you walk away with a sarong you dyed yourself. Pick your complimentary or contrasting colors and get your hands dirty (not literally). Wear something you don't mind getting dyed because once the dye is dry, it is set. $20.00 fee.

Massage Presented by Slug & Slothe
Head to toe, including face. Bring a partner or come alone. We will teach simple stress relief techniques through massage. Bring a blanket.

Chakra - Clearing and Strengthening Presented by Slug & Slothe
With breathing and hand motions, this meditation includes color visualization and a guided journey out of the body to beautiful places.

Yoga for Slugs Presented by Slugwoman
Simple, easy yoga. Fist half of workshop for children, second half for adults only.

Tai Chi or Jujitsu Presented by Leonid Geiniman
One hour Chi Gong exercise and self defense practice 8 A.M. daily

Poly Pagan Discussion Group Presented by Rev. Elaine Ries
What is polyamory? According to the Michigan Polyamory web site, “it's the concept that honest, loving, intimate relationships are possible outside the structure of the "couple." Come join us in discussing the pleasures and challenges of being both Polyamorous and Pagan in a culture that is primarily monogamous and conventional. You don’t have to be Poly or Pagan to attend this workshop, just curious and open-minded. Over 18 only please!

Shoud Channeling Experience Presented by Rev. Elaine Ries
Humankind’s journey has been amazing, if nothing else. What began long ago as Divine Source’s desire to know Itself, has evolved into a truly remarkable experience of Duality that we humans continue to co-create. We are always at choice – even if only on an unconscious level. Ever wonder what the heck we are gonna come up with next for our destiny? Consider blending your Energies with us for a Shoud experience. Shoud is a form of channeling in which the Higher Consciousness of the entire group of Divine Humans present is channeled, rather than that of an Angel or Master Teacher. This is an opportunity to get an overview of our shared present and future Path. Please come with an open heart and mind.

Dancing The Candle Wheel Presented by Cypress
Picture this, the fire is burning and the drums are drumming. Off to one side of the circle is a large wooden wheel. On the top of that wheel are 12 lit candles and around that wheel are 12 beautiful women holding handles on that wheel dancing in perfect harmony. The women are aiding in the turning of the wheel, celebrating the changes of the seasons. You know you have never seen anything like it but, you also know your mind will recall the image for years to come, when it is time celebrate the turning of the wheel. Join me in learning to Dance The Candle Wheel in this workshop. Then join together again at night near the fire to share the beauty of the Candle Wheel with your community.

Our Pagan Roots in Today's Culture, or, Where Did We Come From? Presented by Micheal Frantz
Where does our American cultural heritage really come from? Don’t ask the Christians, most of them will get it wrong. What is a pagan? Is the truth of what makes a person a pagan anywhere close to the dictionary definitions? This lesson will attempt to expose you to as many aspects of paganism in our American culture, through our customs, as is possible within our allotted time. And to discuss those things that I, or you, believe are important.
